What is injection therapy?

Injection therapy at our office is the use of the homeopathic remedy Traumeel injected directly into an acupuncture point which is typically located in a muscle or joint at the site of pain and sometimes into areas associated with the pain mechanism. These areas are sometimes called “trigger points” and can be used to control myofacial pain. The benefits of injection therapy
I have found that some pain syndromes can be very tough to treat when using acupuncture and massage. Several treatments sometimes bring limited results and this experience can be frustrating for the patient and the practitioner. When I began using injection therapy on these very tenacious pain areas it was immediately obvious to me that this is an indispensable pain relieving technique with enormous benefits. Patients sometimes report a cooling sensation moving through the area of pain or a feeling of general relief to the area. Some patients find it’s effects to be unbelievable.

For example, a patient complaining of severe tendonitis in his left arm came to my office for treatment. He was reluctant of all needling so I performed massage in the area and only light needling for his first 2 visits. His pain levels dropped only slightly and I convinced him to try injection therapy. On the first injection he noticed immediate results and had a dramatic decrease in pain. He returned once a week for two more weeks until all of his symptoms were relieved. I spoke with him 3 months after his last visit and he told me that his elbow was still pain free.
This is not to say Traumeel injection therapy is a miracle cure for all types of pain as some patients do not receive results and other patients respond more slowly.

This can be due to the nature of injury or type of pain and sometimes due to the individuals cellular chemistry.

A typical injection therapy treatment

As a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine I incorporate all of my skills into any treatment.
I prefer to begin with zen shiatsu as this can loosen the area and give me a hands on idea of what is happening in the local area. Once I have thoroughly evaluated the area I find the best spots for injection. I usually will inject 2-4 points with traumeel and then perform acupuncture and sometimes moxabustion and cupping.
I believe that using the myriad of techniques at my disposal will bring the patient back to health much faster than any of these techniques used alone.
